No, a special pick is not necessary. Jam Kat accepts a standard guitar pick of thin, medium and heavy gauge (up to 1.0 mm).

We have received many requests for a Jam Kat that accepts the Dunlop Jazz 3, the Big Stubby (up to 3mm) and the large triangular style picks.  The product development team at Pick-Smith is proofing designs for these picks.  Check back for new product launch dates.

In addition to a variety of Jam Kat pick-holsters coming soon, Pick-Smith's product development team is working on 'Kat Klip,' a docking case to hold your Jam Kat that clips onto your guitar strap. The docking base for Kat Klip is made of sturdy nylon and the cover is clear polycarbonate to show off and protect your Jam Kat. Check back for product availability.

Our mascot is a tom kat named Skratch.

As a youngster, Skratch was somewhat of an artist — a graffiti artist — who loved to tag self-portraits on brick walls.  After a little run-in with the law, Skratch was befriended by Amos Lefferts and he learned to play the guitar.  Skratch’s favorite movies are One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Deathproof, and The Aristocats.  Skratch has an on-again, off-again girlfriend named Itch (of course). Skratch has 2 or 3 kittens — he swears the youngest (an orange tabby) isn’t his, but loves it nonetheless.  Skratch is single, loves to play guitar and lives his lives (7 left) without regret.
